Its been a while since we’ve had a chance to find time to write a post with all the pressures of Coronavirus continuing. Today i found time to sit down and announce our newest announcement.
We’ve always taken training seriously at JL Carpet cleaning. It was always one of my bugbears within this unregulated industry that so many cleaners simply set up with minimal training and then set themselves loose on clients flooring. From the years I spent in the carpet industry I saw too many disasters from incorrect cleaning and whilst many would say “cleaning is simple” in reality it’s a lot more complex than that.
It was always my goal to be the most experienced and technically trained operator in Shropshire and amongst the best in the UK. Over the years this came to fruition through becoming NCCA (national carpet cleaners association) advanced members [...]

I wanted to try and put together a blog listing what we’re doing moving forward including some new products and use of equipment, what tips we can suggest and what to avoid when it comes to the coronavirus and carpet & upholstery cleaning.
Firstly, I just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to read this and hope you find it of use. We hope your well and staying safe. We’re living in a strange period of time, things look completely different from how they were not so long ago. As all responsible businesses are finding we are making changes to certain things to ensure we can ensure safety for our clients and ourselves. This will be a game-changer in my eyes, as businesses who don’t layout what protection and precautions their offering clients [...]

I’m writing this for my lockdown headquarters!
The recent coronavirus outbreak has had a huge impact on our lives and highlighted the need for good sanitising practices for all businesses and the public, something most of us have taken for guaranteed for such a long time.
We have been trained in infection control for well over a year and always offered a niche service but it has always been a service with a niche market until now. The world has gone hygiene crazy rightly or wrongly and demand for disinfection and deep cleaning of offices, schools, homes etc is at an all-time high.
How can we helpJL Carpet Cleaning offers a professional disinfection service for Shropshire and surrounding areas. Our 2 step service involves all touchpoints cleaned and treated 1st for maximum coverage using a specialist disinfectant cleaner. An antimicrobial product is applied via a fogging machine which atomises the product into a fine [...]

With so many companies offering carpet and upholstery cleaning in Telford, Shrewsbury and Shropshire, it can be hard to figure out who to choose. We’ll admit we won’t be the cheapest carpet and upholstery cleaners. We don’t do £20 room offers and upholstery from £10 a seat or different types of cleaning. The costs of running a professional company mean we can’t compete with this type of price and to be honest we don’t want too.
At JL Carpet cleaning Jenny and myself believe what we offer is simple. You receive a 1st class service from myself and my wife and an unbeatable deep clean every time. With over 18 years in the carpet trade and 10 years as an installer, it allows me a unique view on your carpets and [...]

As Shropshire’s qualified commercial cleaning specialists its always a pleasure to work for other local businesses within our great county.
We were contacted by David Austin to undertake a full deep clean of all their carpeted areas at their headquarters. The flooring was a variety of coverings from 15-year-old carpet tiles to bespoke twist pile carpets. After a full inspection and walkthrough, we offered David Austin a full extraction clean to all areas using our unique truck-mounted cleaning system. The system is installed in our new vehicle and has its own softened water supply and power. All waste from the clean is also collected back [...]
We get asked a lot why we charge more than other companies. What do we do different to others that makes us stand apart? Well apart from continuously updating our training, offering 5 star service and unbelievable results we follow our 7 point procedure for each clean for every customer. So no matter whether your having a small lounge doing to a large domestic property we treat all customers the same. Maybe this is what stands us apart.
Here’s our 7 point procedure
. Pre-survey to check for fibre identification, fitting, staining and soiling and any other requirements before work is carried out. (upholstery and leather may require further tests in determining suitability for cleaning)
2. Pre-vacuum the carpet with a commercial upright cleaner to remove dry soiling.
3. Treat any stains that need attention, then pre spray the carpet with the appropriate cleaning solution
4. Mechanically agitate the pre spray deep down into the carpet, this breaks [...]

Many of us are in a rush in our daily lives nowadays, so odd spills on the carpet or marks can get overlooked and left for another day. We all tend to have those “under the kitchen sink products” that have been there ages and unfortunately we tend to grab these first, squirt and rub and hope for the best, But really what are you putting on your carpet and what can it unknown damage DIY stain removal cause?
Firstly we must understand that stains and spots are chemically complex. Many stains may have different make ups so treating with a universal spot treatment like vanish and others may just make things worse as there’s honestly no magic spray in a bottle.
Stains can be broken down into various different categories. Heres some examples:
- Protein based stains – i.e blood, vomit, urine, [...]

Is vacuuming important? YES! Is the correct answer, and it plays an extremely important part in maintaining your carpet, prolonging its life and maintaining a healthy atmosphere in your home.
Firstly proper vacuuming is one of the most important parts of maintaining the appearance of your carpet.
